Increase longevity, lower cholesterol, control blood sugar, maintain gastrointestinal health, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer, and maintain a healthy weight are all commonly recognized fundamental aspects of health promotion and disease prevention. These are the principles that have fashioned the framework for The Longevity Diet, a program designed by Dr. Valter Longo Director of the Longevity Institute at the University of Southern California. Dr. Longo developed this program after decades of tirelessly researching how the diets of centenarians improve longevity and prevent chronic disease.
As a registered dietitian, I am constantly on the look-out for companies with a mission heavily grounded in health promotion, backed by science, and guided by sustainability. This is why I am thrilled to talk about a company making waves in the meal kit delivery space, Nutrition For Longevity. In this article, I provide you with a complete review of Nutrition for Longevity, including pros and cons, key features, and nutritional highlights.
First, what are Centenarian Hot Spots (aka Blue Zones)?
Centenarian Hot Spots, otherwise known as the “Blue Zones” of the planet, are geographic locations where the world’s oldest and healthiest populations reside (see image above). These locations have high concentrations of individuals over 100 years old along with markedly lower rates of the same chronic diseases that have afflicted the U.S. population at epidemic proportions for decades, such as heart disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes, and obesity.
One of the common traits of Centenarian Hot Spots inhabitants is that they typically eat a 95% plant-based diet that is rich in vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and nuts (think the Mediterranean diet). In fact, the Ogliastra Region of Sardinia and Ikaria, Greece are actually 2 of the 5 Blue Zones (the others being Okinawa, Japan, Loma Linda, California, and the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica).
While these blue zones are found in four very geographically and culturally distinct regions of the world, there are fundamental characteristics shared by each location. These include making low-intensity physical activity part of one’s daily routine, building good relationships with friends and family, a primarily plant-based diet, and finding a purpose and a sense of meaning in life. When applied, these principles have been found to foster the creation of positive lifestyle changes, facilitating the prevention of chronic disease.

What is Nutrition For Longevity?
Nutrition for Longevity was founded on the passionate belief that a long, healthy life begins with what’s on your plate. To address the nutritional deficiencies in today’s commercially-grown produce, they have created a farm-to-table meal delivery service that goes beyond organic, by restoring food to its natural state so you can support your health.
Inspired by the science and research of Dr. Valter Longo’s Longevity Diet, the meals resemble the dietary patterns practiced in the Blue Zones. As a result, everything they grow and serve is created with the intention of empowering consumers to live their longest, healthiest lives. The result is clean, fresh, seasonal produce delivered to your door, direct from harvest in the form of curated meals that are low in sugar, rich in high-quality protein, and are full of healthy fats through pescatarian and plant-based meals.
What sets Nutrition For Longevity apart from the rest?
The company grows organic, non-GMO, nutrient-dense food by using the highest-quality seeds. They believe quality and transparency is key. Having a transparent food chain means you’ll know exactly where your food comes from and how it was grown. They plant everything on their regenerative farm in New Jersey using state-of-the-art sustainable farming practices that not only help neutralize climate change, but also help support the reversal of environmental damage.
They rely on biointensive no-till farming, cover crops, specialized composting, and crop rotation to get maximum yields from minimum land. This approach reduces soil erosion by nearly 700%, saves more than 20,000 gallons of water per acre, produces two to six times more food, and builds fertile topsoil 60 times faster than in nature.
They also employ the use of aquaponics, which combines conventional aquaculture (the raising of fish in tanks) with hydroponics (the cultivation of plants in water). This creates a symbiotic environment for fish and plants to grow and thrive. It also allows them to grow food indoors all year long, use 90% less water than non-hydroponic farms, and 30% more rapid plant growth (naturally)!
Once your food is harvested, the Nutrition for Longevity team creates delicious meals that are as tasty as they are nutritious. With the help of their executive chef and registered dietitians, each meal is crafted to ensure you get nutrient-rich balanced meals that also taste incredible. When you order a meal kit from Nutrition for Longevity, you’ll get at least 10 servings of fruits and vegetables on each meal kit day. Since most American’s consumption falls short of the recommended 5-9 servings a day, the company is eagerly fighting to fill that gap!

How does Nutrition For Longevity Work?
Ordering a meal kit from Nutrition for Longevity takes all the guesswork out of eating healthy, and makes it ultra-convenient too. All you have to do is select your meal plan, at either 1,600 or 2,000 calories per day and vegan or pescatarian. From there, the company takes care of the rest.
Each meal kit features three full days of meals per week, ensuring that your food is always fresh and providing you with flexibility throughout the rest of your week. You will receive at least 10 servings of fruits and vegetables, 25 grams of fiber, and less than 30% of your total daily calories from fat. These are all dietary patterns recognized by the FDA to support heart health and potentially prevent certain cancers. Each day features a ready-to-eat breakfast and lunch, and an easy-to-cook dinner with a recipe card to guide you through making your artisanal meal.
They’ll ship your meals to you directly from harvest so you get the freshest food possible, preserving nutrients and reaping all the health benefits. Your food will arrive in sustainable, compostable packaging that is as eco-friendly as their food.

Is Nutrition For Longevity right for you?
- Conscious of consumers with dietary restrictions. All menu offerings provided by Nutrition For Longevity are gluten-free and include allergen labeling.
- Incredible social media platform with IGTV. Nutrition For Longevity has an extremely interactive, relevant, and informative social media platform to engage and educate consumers! As a registered dietitian, I find their social presence to be absolutely invaluable and it is setting their company apart from others in the industry. With an IGTV channel rendering videos like “The Chemical Cocktail” and “Eat Your Colors”, they are certainly working to educate their followers in an engaging way. Check them out on Instagram!
- Sustainable and eco-friendly.
- No “family size” option is currently available. While you do have the option of placing back-to-back orders, which equates to 6 days of meal kits, this is currently the largest quantity that can be ordered at once. However, their development team is working on different meal kit sizes like 2-4 serving options. This will be more suitable for a family rather than an individual.
- Pricey, as expected with a nutritious meal delivery service.

How much does Nutrition For Longevity cost?
With the price of an individual 3 day supply of meals amounting to $104.40-$126.90, this meal kit delivery service will not fit within everyone’s budget. However, recognizing the quality of ingredients, the innovative concept, and their overall mission to improve the health of their consumers and the health of our planet, supporting this company is definitely worth the money.
The price of your meal kit depends on the caloric amount you choose (at either 1,600 or 2,000 calories per day/per all 3 meals) and the plan that you choose (either vegan or pescatarian).
The lowest option (1,600 calorie/day vegan plan) is priced at just $11.60/meal or $104.40 for all 3 days. On the other hand, the highest price option (2,000 calorie/day pescatarian plan) is priced at $14.10/meal or $126.90 for all 3 days.
My personal experience with Nutrition For Longevity
My experience with Nutrition For Longevity could not have been any easier or any more delicious! I ordered the 2,000 calorie/day vegan meal plan option. I am not vegan but I do typically opt for plant-based protein sources.
As a full time professional, I really appreciated how the breakfasts took only minutes to throw together, the lunches required 0 preparation (I literally just threw them in my lunchbox on the way out the door), and the dinners required very minimal preparation, all were ready in 30 minutes or less!
With very minimal prep work involved, Nutrition For Longevity is definitely suitable for individuals who lack culinary confidence or experience. Easy-to-follow recipe cards are provided for the small preparation necessary for the dinner meals.

3-Days of Nutrition For Longevity
My 3-day menu was full of mouth-watering, nourishing, and satisfying meals and snacks.
Breakfasts included various flavor varieties of a Sunrise Grain blend like “Super Berry Blast” or “Banana Bread”, which you could prepare ahead of time as overnight oats or in the morning with hot water as oatmeal.
Lunches included wholesome and filling plant-based meals like “Butternut Squash Buddha Bowl with Beans, Tomatoes, and Tahini Dressing” and “Autumn Beet Salad with Quinoa, Figs, and Nuts”.
Dinners included hearty entrees like “Sheet Pan Vegetable Souvlaki with Chickpeas and Potatoes” and “Vegan Fried Rice with Seasonal Mixed Vegetables”. Each day also included snacks like “Spiced Purple Sweet Potato Hummus with Carrots” and “Golden Turmeric Hummus with (gluten-free) Pita” and even dark chocolate bars!
Each day’s menu also provided information about the inspiration behind the meals, brief tidbits of nutritional information, and a complete nutrition facts panel along with an ingredient list for full transparency.
