ProLon Fasting Mimicking Diet Review (Including My 5-Day Personal Experience)

Prolon Fasting Mimicking Diet Review

“The light of the world will illuminate within you when you fast and purify yourself,” famous words from Mahatma Gandhi, one of the 20th century’s most respected spiritual and political leaders. The therapeutic benefits of fasting, however, were known far before Gandhi’s time, with documentation dating back to at least the 5th century BCE when Greek physician and philosopher, Hippocrates, recommended fasting as a treatment for certain diseases.1

During the 20th century, as scientific research uncovered more about nutrition and the human body, a wide variety of sophisticated fasting techniques began to emerge. Time-Restricted Eating (TRE), Intermittent Fasting (IF), and Prolonged Fasting (PF) are three of the most widely used and heavily researched forms of fasting to date.

In this article, I’ll review what you need to know about Prolon Fasting Mimicking Diet, including benefits, pricing, and a video on my personal experience!

Clinically proven health benefits of fasting

  • Assisting with weight loss by limiting calorie intake and enhancing metabolic health.5
  • Increasing metabolic flexibility (the ability for your body to efficiently utilize a variety of fuel sources for energy production – dietary fat, stored body fat, blood glucose, or glycogen (stored glucose).6
  • Promoting multi-system regeneration, enhancing cognitive performance, and increasing healthspan.7

While weight loss and fat burning results can be significant with both TRE and IF programs, the benefits which promote profound changes at the cellular level require prolonged fasting for an extended period, usually anywhere from 4 to 7 consecutive days. However, in a culture that advocates consuming three meals per day, for most of us the idea of going four or more days without food probably seems miserable or just downright impossible.

With demanding schedules, work deadlines, social obligations, and a host of other individual responsibilities, you may be ready to write off the idea of a prolonged fasting program all together. But what if you could fast with food and still receive the profound health benefits associated with a PF program? Enter The ProLon 5-Day Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD).

The ProLon Fasting Mimicking Diet is the first and only meal program patented to provide healthy aging. This 5-day meal program delivers scientifically researched micro and macro-nutrients in precise quantities and combinations that nourish your body, but are not recognized by the body’s nutrient sensors, and therefore mimics a fasting state!

The Prolon Fasting Mimicking Diet is your secret to fasting

The Fasting Mimicking Diet, or FMD, is a fasting-with-food five-day meal plan that is low in carbohydrates and proteins with moderate amounts of healthy fats. The FMD[JK1]  recipes are made from specific healthy plant-based ingredients combined in carefully-designed ratios and amounts so that the body does not recognize that it is eating. This causes the body to stay in a fasting mode for a prolonged period of time, which triggers a set of beneficial physiological changes that cause the body to optimize performance, rejuvenate cells, and thrive. In randomized human trials, The Fasting Mimicking Diet normalized many metabolic health metrics that play a role in aging and healthspan.

Scientifically developed and clinically tested, this nutritional breakthrough was invented at the Longevity Institute at The University of Southern California. Led by one of the world’s leading longevity researchers,[JK2] Dr. Valter Longo, the USC Longevity Institute brings together multidisciplinary aging research to enhance the human healthspan. The Fasting Mimicking Diet nourishes your body while promoting regenerative and rejuvenating changes, including supporting healthy levels of systolic blood pressure and other metabolic markers, triggering cellular clean-up, and reducing visceral fat while preserving lean body mass.

My personal experience with the Prolon Fasting Mimicking Diet

As a registered dietitian, I have long been a proponent of fasting and the multitude of scientifically proven positive health benefits associated with it. I have practiced TRE, typically with a 12-hour duration, for some time now. Although admittedly, I have not yet been brave enough to try a PF in fear that I would feel miserable, be unable to function efficiently at work, and have to abstain from social activities.

I finally decided to put my fears aside for the betterment of my health and give prolonged fasting a try with the help of The ProLon Fasting Mimicking Diet Program. I documented my own experience in the video above to help others feel empowered to partake in their own journey of improving their health using The ProLon FMD. Check it out!

Final thoughts

Difficult, intense, frustrating, invigorating, surprising, grateful, humbled- all words that I would use to describe my experience using The ProLon 5 day Fasting Mimicking Diet Program. Some days were more challenging than others, but overall, the experience was eye-opening and gratifying. I would definitely do it again and recommend this program to anyone else interested in improving their overall health.

One of the most noteworthy improvements I noticed was my overall level of energy. Day one and two were the most challenging, as my body began to adapt to using its own energy stores for energy, versus using energy from food. Days three through five brought a heightened sense of clarity along with a very steady level of energy, devoid of any dips or “crashes” throughout the day. This steady energy was likely due to the fact that my body was not relying on energy from the food I was consuming and therefore my energy levels were not tied to the rise and fall of my blood sugar levels.

I completed my fast with a deep appreciation for my body and its ability to adapt and perform under different conditions. Just like our minds and muscles need to be challenged to grow and improve, so does our metabolism. Incorporating The ProLon FMD plan into your wellness routine, provided you are a successful candidate to do so, can ultimately aid in strengthening your metabolic flexibility and improving your health at the cellular level.
