Do you have astigmatism AND wear contact lenses?

If so, you’re in luck! Over the last month, two major contact lens companies launched new daily contact lenses for astigmatism in the US.

1) Johnson & Johnson launched ACUVUE OASYS® 1-Day for ASTIGMATISM

2) Bausch + Lomb launched Biotrue® ONEday for Astigmatism

This is exciting news since, prior to these lenses, there were significantly fewer daily contact lens options for patients with astigmatism. In fact, it’s now clearer than ever that contact lens companies are investing their money in the development of new daily contact lenses!

ACUVUE OASYS® 1-Day for ASTIGMATISM lenses are even available to order with around the clock axis powers! Considering dailies? Drop by your local eye care professional to learn more about your options!

Enjoy searching for antique treasures at garage sales or flea markets?

You miiight want to consider refining your search to non-health related items. Last month news broke that a woman out of Texas is suing the company that provided her cosmetic contact lenses at a flea market. Unfortunately, these contact lenses lead to an eye infection that has caused her to go legally blind.

The woman claims the individual that sold her the lenses did not “communicate to her that the contacts are a regulated medical device.” She also claims they failed to “review the hygiene requirements and dangers that come with wearing contact lenses.” This unfortunate instance adds to the growing amount of evidence that contact lenses need to be fit and prescribed by an eye care professional!

Remember #thedress that took the internet by storm two years ago?

Gold and white…blue and white…blue and blue…blue and black – everyone had an opinion on the colors of this dress! An experimental psychologist out of Japan decided to remind everyone that your eyes can play tricks on you by releasing a photo of what appeared to be red strawberries.

The trick, there is not a single red pixel in this photo. In fact, the strawberries are actually grey!

When looking at this picture, your brain overrides what it sees with what it knows about the color of strawberries. Unfortunately, this phenomenon doesn’t take place when trying to replace the taste of cough syrup with ice cream! Bummer.
