In the Spring of 2017, Transitions Optical launched a new consumer brand campaign called Live the Good Light™! Below Dr. Ryan Corte interviews optometrist and fellow Transitions® Change agent, Dr. Amanda Rights, on her thoughts about the new campaign!

Dr. Corte: My name is Dr. Ryan Corte and I’m here with Dr. Amanda Rights. Dr. Rights is a primary care optometrist in Boone, NC as well as the founder of the blog Optomeyeslife and fellow Transitions® Change Agent! How are you doing today?
Dr. Rights: Good, how are you?
Dr. Corte: Outstanding! I’m doing really well and am excited to chat with you a little bit today about the Transitions® Live the Good Light™ Campaign. Let’s dive right in!
Millennials and Transitions® lenses
Dr. Corte: What are a few reasons why Transitions® lenses are desirable for millennials like you and me?

Dr. Rights: I think millennials will be surprised to find that Transitions® lenses can actually be stylish!
Dr. Corte: Absolutely!
Dr. Rights: The most common misconception about Transitions® lenses that I hear from patients is that only our grandparents wear them. This isn’t true at all!
Dr. Corte: I completely agree with you.
Dr. Rights: Transitions Optical has come a long way with their technology and people all ages wear them. Even, young, hip millennials! Through the Live the Good Light™ Campaign, I think millennials will see how any Transitions® lens can fit in any frame to match their personal, unique style!
Dr. Corte: As both a millennial and an optometrist, how do you feel this campaign relates to your daily life?
Dr. Rights: As millennials, we spend more time on digital devices than any other generation before us. At the same time, we also lead very active lifestyles and expect our technology to keep up with us. As an optometrist, I try to meet all the visual demands of my patients. Transitions® lenses are able to meet the visual demands of everybody – whether it’s from their occupation, interests or hobbies, indoors or out!

Dr. Corte: What excites you the most about Transitions® Live the Good Light™ Campaign and the #GoodLightProject?
Dr. Rights: What excites me the most is that Transitions Optical is stirring up this conversation about advanced eyeglass lens technology through these eye-catching campaigns and commercials.
The Live the Good Light™ Campaign and Good Light™ Project provide an interactive social platform for people to share their own experiences with good light and how Transitions® lenses impact and influence those moments.
Protection from UV and harmful blue light
Dr. Corte: Our generation spends hours in front of digital devices that give off harmful blue light. Do you find that millennials are concern about how this may impact their eyes over time?
Dr. Rights: I think millennials are keenly aware of how frequently they use digital devices but not necessarily the impact it’s having on their eyes. Eye strain, fatigue, blurred vision, and headaches are all part of a syndrome called computer vision syndrome. This syndrome is caused by excessive digital device use.
Transitions® lenses are an excellent solution for tech-savvy millennials because they help protect against that blue light as well as reduce glare, eye strain, and fatigue.
Dr. Corte: When you’re educating your patients, how do you describe the seamless protection Transitions® lenses provide from UV and harmful blue light, both indoors and out?
Dr. Rights: Transitions® lenses block 100% of UV light while outdoors from the sunlight. They also protect against harmful blue light from digital devices, screens, and bright sunlight. I feel that once patients are educated and informed about the benefits they’re more receptive to new lens technologies such as Transitions®.
Favorite Transitions® lenses
Dr. Corte: The Live the Good Light™ Campaign does a wonderful job highlighting how stylish Transitions® lenses really are. With this in mind, what’s your favorite Transitions® product and lens color and why?
Dr. Rights: My favorite Transitions® product is is the Signature® VII™ Transitions® lenses. I like it because it’s completely clear indoors and at night but it darkens appropriately outside. My favorite lens color is the Graphite Green. I think the Graphite Green provides this unique and fashion-forward look compared to your standard Brown or Grey lens colors. My favorite combination is together is the gold and black frames with Graphite Green Transitions® lenses, which is what I’m wearing!
Dr. Corte: I have to agree with on the Graphite Green, I absolutely love that color. Also, Signature® VII™ Transitions® lenses are my favorite.
