Pupillary Distance (PD): Is It Really Important For Your Glasses?

Just like when you’re buying shoes or clothes, having the right measurements for your glasses is extremely important! Incorrect pupillary distance (PD) measurements can lead to the inability to see clearly out of your glasses and, honestly, nobody has time for that!

One of the most important measurements your optician will take is your pupillary distance!

What is a pupillary distance?

Your PD is the measurement (in millimeters) between the center of your pupils in both eyes.

It’s important because it allows your eyes to line up exactly with what’s known as the “optical center” of your lenses. This provides you with the exact prescription and vision that was measured by your eye doctor.

While measuring your glasses PD is something that can technically be done yourself, I highly recommend visiting a trained optician to perform this important measurement for you!
