Raindrops Keep Falling On My Spectacles

Welcome to the first installment of what’s trending in eye care, brought to you by IntroWellness.com and 20/20 Glance! I’m Dr. Jackie Garlich, here to bring you the news.

Snap, Inc, the owners of the popular app Snapchat, created a lot of buzz with the announcement of their upcoming product Spectacles. Designed as sunglasses that are capable of recording up to 10-second videos, they’re giving a lot of people Google Glass™ flashbacks!

Now, you might be thinking, these spectacles are cool but why not just record video on your smartphone?

Well, the lenses in these sunglasses capture video at a wider angle, allowing you to record hands-free footage similar to what you see with your own eyes. “Spectacles” are rumored to be priced at $129 and will be available this fall.

UPDATE: Actually, they’re available NOW. Get them here.

Contact lens solution safety recall

Bausch + Lomb recalled their hydrogen peroxide contact lens solution PeroxiClear® after internal testing showed there was leftover peroxide remaining after neutralization. Unfortunately, this can cause burning when you put in your contact lenses.

If you have more questions about this recall, you can contact Bausch + Lomb at 1(877)877-0481.

There might be an answer for that! The FDA recently approved Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay, a new small transparent disc designed to reshape the front of your eye and correct presbyopia. Wondering if you might be a good candidate? Talk to your eye care professional for more details.
