Hydraclear 1 technology

To start, 1-Day Acuvue TruEye was first released to the US market in 2010.  The lens has an incredible design and features Hydraclear 1 technology. As a result, it maintains a consistently lubricated surface across the entire lens. This results in a lens that’s clinically shown to deliver comfort comparable to wearing nothing at all.

Best in class UV protection

Providing 96.9% UVA and >99.9% UVB protection, 1-Day Acuvue TruEye delivers the highest level of UV protection available through a daily contact lens. Since exposure to UV radiation is known to cause damage to your eyes, this added protection is a welcomed bonus that sets this lens apart from its competitors.

Powers, availability and more

1-Day Acuvue TruEye is available in powers ranging from -12 to +6. Therefore, it is designed to fit a large range of contact lens wearers. Also, it has a blue visibility tint and a “123” inside-out marking that makes it easier for you to put in and take out.

When fit with 1-Day Acuvue TruEye by your eye care professional, you’ll receive a trial box that contains 10 contact lenses for each eye. In fact, Johnson and Johnson Vision has a certificate for a free trial that you can print out and show your eye doctor.

Once your prescription is finalized, these contacts are available for purchase in 30 packs and 90 packs. Also, as noted in the name, they are designed for daily wear and should be thrown away at the end of the day. Therefore, they’re NOT approved to be slept in!

Note: If you plan on taking your daily contact lenses out for a nap or to go swimming, we recommend storing them in Biotrue, RevitaLens, or Opti-free Pure Moist contact lens solutions.

Does Acuvue TruEye have a lens for astigmatism or presbyopia?

Unfortunately, no. In fact, Johnson and Johnson Vision appears to be done with the TruEye portfolio as they’ve focused their efforts on expanding the portfolios of other lenses.

From our eye care team

Dr. Ryan Corte1-Day Acuvue TruEye contacts lens is a great premium daily lens option that isn’t as expensive as Acuvue Oasys 1-Day and Dailies Total1. Surprisingly, this contact lens has the best UV protection in a daily contact lens – better than even Acuvue Oasys 1-Day when you compare UVA protection. I find patients love the comfort of this lens, however, it is unfortunate that it does not come in astigmatism or multifocal lens options. – Dr. Ryan Corte

How much does 1-Day Acuvue TruEye cost?

While not as expensive as Acuvue Oasys 1-Day or Dailies Total1, this lens still is cheap. Before purchasing a supply, the best place to look is at your eye doctor’s office. However, if you’re looking to price things out from home, consider checking out contact lens retailers online.

Right now suggested retail for a box of 90 lenses of 1-Day Acuvue TruEye is $90.

Final thoughts

Want all-day comfort with crisp, clear vision for all activities? Interested in leaving dryness behind with the technology in this lens? Honestly, the Hydraclear 1 technology behind this lens is impressive, embedding a moisture-rich wetting agent. Also, this lens is thinner than most, which allows you to maintain optimal comfort all day.

Another thing to consider is 1-Day Acuvue TruEye is consistent with all the Acuvue daily lenses, providing UV protection blocking over 96% of UVA and UVB. It also comes in two different base curves allowing doctors to more precisely fit your eye. In addition, it has a light blue tint that makes handling easier.

On the other hand, the 1-Day Acuvue TruEye does not offer contacts for astigmatism or multifocal, like the Acuvue Oasys 1-Day. Also, there are currently no rebates for this lens.

Lastly, for a sphere or monovision patient, I find this lens beats the rest in comfort and consistency of vision all day long.
