Dual Action Technology that keeps moisture in and irritation out

To start, 1-Day Acuvue Moist was released to the US market in 2006. It has since grown to be the most prescribed daily contact lens! Why is this lens so comfortable? 1-Day Acuvue Moist tackles dryness and irritation through a dual action approach!

First, it contains Laceron Technology which permanently embeds a water‐holding ingredient to mimic the natural state of your eye! Second, it’s made of an elastic, inflammation decreasing material with uniquely designed edges. Therefore, this dual action approach helps keep your lens comfort up and inflammation down!

Expanded lens options and built-in UV protection

Great comfort is important when choosing a contact lens but there are many other things I like about 1-Day Acuvue Moist.

Did you know most contact lenses have only one curvature (i.e. base curve) to choose from? Well, 1-Day Acuvue Moist has two (8.5 and 9.0)! This is a nice option for your eye doctor to consider if you have a flatter than average cornea, where a standard base curve doesn’t fit well.

Also, 1-Day Acuvue Moist has built-in UV protection. In fact, it blocks 97% of UVB and 82% UVA rays! This is a great way to provide your eyes with extra protection from the sun’s harmful rays (while wearing your sunglasses, of course).

Powers, availability and more

1-Day Acuvue Moist is available in powers ranging from -12 to +6. Also, as I mentioned before, this lens has two base curves for flat and steep corneas. Therefore, it’s designed to fit a large range of contact lens wearers.

When fit with 1-Day Acuvue Moist by your eye care professional, you’ll receive a trial box that contains 5-10 contact lenses for each eye. In fact, Johnson and Johnson Vision has a certificate for a free trial that you can print out and show your eye doctor.

Once your prescription is finalized, these contacts are available for purchase in 30 packs and 90 packs. Also, as noted in the name, they are designed for daily wear and should be thrown away at the end of the day. Therefore, they’re NOT approved to be slept in!

Note: If you plan on taking your daily contact lenses out for a nap or to go swimming, we recommend storing them in Biotrue, RevitaLens, or Opti-free Pure Moist contact lens solutions. For more information on contact lens solutions, check out our complete guide!

Does 1-Day Acuvue Moist have a contact lens for astigmatism?

Yes! Released to the US market in 2012, 1-Day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism is a great option if you have enough astigmatism to be corrected in a contact lens. This lens has what is known as a Blink Stabilized Design that works naturally with the eyelids to help keep the lens in the correct position.

Does 1-Day Acuvue Moist have a contact lens for presbyopia?

Yes! Released to the US market in 2015, 1-Day Acuvue Moist Multifocal is a multifocal contact lens with a Pupil Size Optimized Design. This means it adjusts for the size of your pupil and provides you with seamless vision at distance, intermediate, and near.

For presbyopia contact lenses to work well, they need to stay hydrated and have excellent optics. Acuvue Moist Multifocal has both of these! It has the Dual Action Technology to maintain maximum moisture through the day and center-near aspheric optics to provide you with exceptional clarity.

What people are saying…

From Johnson and Johnson Vision

  • In a year-long observational study of 570 patients wearing 1-Day Acuvue Moist, there were NO serious or infiltrative events.
  • In a corneal swelling investigation, 1-Day Acuvue Moist wearers showed <1.5% swelling across the cornea (comparable to no lens wear) and clinically insignificant levels of hyperemia.

What do both of these statements mean? This lens is healthy and safe for a large range of contact lens wearers!

How much does 1-Day Acuvue Moist cost?

Regarding the cost, as a general rule, daily contacts tend to be more expensive compared to monthly contacts. Before purchasing them, the best place to look is at your eye doctor’s office. However, if you’re looking to price things out from home, consider checking out contact lens retailers online. Right now suggested retail for a box of 90 lenses is as follows:

  • 1-Day Acuvue Moist – $70
  • 1-Day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism – $91
  • 1-Day Acuvue Moist Multifocal – $100

Hi, my name is Jaclyn Garlich and I’m an optometrist practicing in Milwaukee, WI. I grew up in St. Louis, MO and I went to optometry school at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. After optometry school, I did a residency in primary care and ocular diseases at the St. Louis VAMC. One thing I love about optometry is making my patients see better but, in particular, those patients with severe corneal dystrophies. I fit a lot of specialty contact lenses and I find it very rewarding to see a patient go from 20/200 vision to 20/20 vision. When I’m not practicing optometry I write an optometry newsletter called 20/20 Glance. It’s a once a week email delivered every Monday morning with a rundown of what’s new in optometry for the past week. It’s an easy way for the busy clinician to stay up-to-date.
