Well, if you didn’t know already, the two are directly connected! Hence the research and development of the TrueTear™ Intranasal Tear Neurostimulator from Allergan.

This device delivers an effective way for you to temporarily increase your tear production and recently was granted marketing authorization by the US FDA!

Now you may be wondering, exactly how does it work? The handheld device is designed for you to stick it up your nose and directly stimulate the nerve in your nasal cavity.

From there, this stimulation increases your tear production AND is the first drug-free, non-invasive way to do so. Therefore, if you have dry eye diseaseTrueTear™ will be a real game changer!

Just don’t start picking your nose and expecting the same effect. That would be bad…

Do you buy your glasses online through Warby Parker?

The online glasses company now offers their customers a way to check their glasses prescription anywhere via their new Prescription Check app.

Now telemedicine refractions (also known as the process used to determine your glasses prescription remotely) are nothing new. Just ask 1-800 Contacts, Opternative, Smart Vision Labs and Eyenetra.

The major concern from eye care professionals is that the general public may actually think they’re getting an eye exam during this process. Unfortunately, this is far from the truth.

A vision assessment is only one piece of the puzzle during an eye exam. Warby Parker is also aware of this and has some MAJOR disclaimers in their terms of use section.

As of right now, only residents of California, Florida, New York and Virginia who already purchased glasses through Warby Parker are eligible for the test. You also have to be between the age of 18 and 40 years old.

Last time I looked up my heartburn symptoms online, I almost diagnosed myself with throat cancer. Yikes! So I guess there that for trusting in a computer over a doctor.

Are you a veteran that gets your eye care at the VA?

Better book an appointment soon! A story from DisabledVeterans.org reported the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Dr. David Shulkin, recently suggested getting rid of VA optometry and audiology services.

Because seeing and hearing are overrated?!

Dr. Shulkin referenced that there’s a LensCrafters on every corner! Therefore, by contracting out these services to community care clinics, his team feels the VA could reallocate money saved to upgrade outdated facilities.

Shocked by this news, legislative optometry organizations are being as proactive as possible to ensure US veterans don’t lose this service!

Stay tuned to SEE or HEAR any updates on how this unfolds.
